How British TV hosts are having to do their own hair and make-up amid coronavirus pandemic

With preventative measures in place across the UK to try and curb the COVID:19 pandemic, British TV presenters have been left without the help of their glam squads.

TV stations have sent non-essential staff home, including hair and makeup teams, meaning some of our favourite hosts have been forced to embrace DIY looks.

And it’s come as quite a shock to some viewers, with ITV newsreader Mary Nightingale revealing on Twitter on Tuesday that fans were worried she was unwell after she did her own ‘TV make-up’.

Meanwhile, Alex Jones, who co-hosts the BBC‘s The One Show, was among the TV presenters paying tribute to their loyal glam squads after being forced to do their own make-up.

She took to her Instagram stories this week to say: ‘We can’t have any make-up artists any more and it breaks my heart because after nearly a decade, our team of girls are very close friends and this is a game-changer for them financially.

The Welsh presenter, 43, added: ‘Plus I’m terrible at doing make-up but #thistooshallpass, we’ll be reunited soon and my face will be so grateful!’

Here, FEMAIL reveals the TV hosts braving the spotlight with their own make-up skills…
