Mike Tindall reveals he’s trying to make daughter Mia more competitive – but swerves Megxit question
Mike Tindall has revealed he is trying to make his daughter Mia ‘more competitive’ – but swerved a question on Megxit, claiming he’s clueless about the situation.
The former England rugby legend, 41, was pictured earlier this month on a family day out with wife Zara, 38, and their two children at the beach in Australia.
Fun photographs saw Mike teaching six-year-old Mia how to surf and racing her to the shoreline.
Speaking on Joe’s House of Rugby podcast, hosted by Alex Payne and former England flanker James Haskell, Mike admitted he refused let his eldest win.

When James observed he ‘flat out beat’ his daughter in their running race, he said: ‘Trying to make her more competitive is what I was trying to do.’
James retorted: ‘Yeah, by beating her soundly and almost running her over and knocking her over – woo, take that!’
When Alex joked it wasn’t a bad time to be away from the UK with ‘a lot going on in The Firm’, Mike chuckled before saying: ‘Let’s not talk about that.’
Alex then suggested they send Prince Harry an ‘e-hug’, and asked whether the two men had been in touch with the duke and sent ‘a nice message to say hope you are alright?’

After a slight pause, James replied: ‘Yes, I have,’ while Mike admitted it was a ‘no-go area’ because he ‘doesn’t know anything about it’.
James added: ‘I don’t know anything about it either, I don’t know anymore than you know… I think it must be very traumatic and difficult, I have sent my regards. That’s the extent of it.’
James, 34, and his now wife Chloe Madeley, 32, attended Prince Harry’s wedding to Meghan Markle in May 2018.
Harry, 35, is a keen rugby union fan and patron for the Rugby Football Union, and was previously seen joking with James during an England training session.
He and Meghan, 38, quit as senior royals earlier this month, and the duke joined his wife and son Archie in Canada on Monday to start their new life.

While at Surfer’s Paradise on the Gold Coast earlier this month, Zara was seen cradling their other daughter Lena, one, while watching her husband and Mia play in the surf.
Zara kept things casual, stepping out clad in a distressed pair of indigo denim shorts and a mottled pink T-shirt.
Meanwhile Mike bared his chest as he splashed about in a pair of blue swim shorts, and Mia looked ready for action in a pretty long-sleeved tie dye swim suit.
Zara recently revealed that she would ‘think’ about moving to Australia with her family once she retires from eventing, after falling in love with the laid-back banter and relaxed pace of life Down Under.

Queen Elizabeth’s granddaughter, who has been married to the former England rugby player since 2011, made the revelation in an exclusive interview with Juliet Rieden for The Australian Women’s Weekly January issue.
Asked if she would consider relocating to Australia, Zara replied: ‘Probably not while I’m still competing. It would be a little bit hard commuting.
‘But after that… yes, I think if an opportunity came up we’d definitely think about it.’
