Atletico Madrid are reportedly facing stadium closure due to chants of ‘Griezmann die’ that were aimed at their former player during defeat by Barcelona last weekend.

The former Atletico striker moved to Barcelona in the summer and featured for his new side as they ran out 1-0 winners in Sunday’s LaLiga clash.

It was Griezmann’s first time back at the Wanda Metropolitano since he moved for £108million to the La Liga champions.

According to Spanish radio station Cadena Cope, Atletico could be fined as well as having parts of their 68,500-seater stadium closed.

It has been alleged in Spanish media that Griezmann agreed his move to Barcelona last March, when Atletico were competing alongside Barcelona for LaLiga and Champions League honours.

Barcelona beat Atletico 1-0 on Sunday thanks to a sublime late goal from Lionel Messi.

Victory maintains Barcelona’s place at the summit of the league, with Real Madrid second and Atletico languishing in sixth.
