CARABAO CUP DRAW: Newcastle host Leicester in all-Premier League clash while Nottingham Forest get home tie against arch-rivals Derby

Newcastle drew Leicester in the only all-Premier League tie in the Carabao Cup second round.

All Premier League teams outside the top seven were in Tuesday evening’s draw following the first round results.

Newcastle and Leicester’s clash was the main high-profile match with the two teams being drawn against each other in the Northern section.

A date for the clash has not yet been set but all second round ties are scheduled to take place sometime in the week commencing August 26.

The next biggest eye-catching tie to emerge from the draw was the East Midlands derby between Nottingham Forest and Derby. 

Elsewhere, Lincoln will attempt to be giant killers again against Everton, having narrowly been beaten by the Premier League side in the FA Cup last term.

Forest Green Rovers are set for another big away day, having beaten Charlton at The Valley on penalties on Tuesday night as they were drawn against Bournemouth. 

While Watford drew a home tie against Coventry, West Ham will travel to Newport, who have a decent history in cup competitions in recent years and Southampton face a trip to Fulham.

Other Premier League clubs in the draw include Aston Villa, who will face Crewe away and Sheffield United, who host Blackburn.

Leeds were pitted against Stoke after sweeping aside Class of 92-back side Salford.
