Game set and match! Who’s winning the court side style wars this summer?
We love the first two weeks in July.
For a little while we’re all preoccupied with a tennis club in South West London and the daily drama both on and off the court.
It’s so quintessentially British with the sun (or rain…), the strawberries and cream, the champagne and the emotionally charged television montages at the end of each day.
And if you’re like us then you’ll also be a keen follower of the court side style on display.
From the tennis WAGs to the celebrity guests, and of course the royalty, it’s a feast for the fashion obsessed.
So who has been hitting it out of the park (or winning game, set and match) this year?
Check out our favourites so far below.
1. The Duchess of Cambridge
The Duchess of Cambridge is elegant in white and was clearly having a fantastic time
The Duchess of Cambridge has become a real regular court side and it’s clear she absolutely loves being there.
And while she always looks great, the outfit she wore last week is definitely one of her most elegant to date.
This lovely white tea dress falls so beautifully and we love the pleating at the shoulders and those puffed sleeves. Dreamy.
And as ever Kate accessorised it perfectly with a slender bow belt to nip her in at the waist, along with simple black courts and a cute mini bag.
Well done Kate, you’ve done it again.
2. The Duchess of Sussex
Meghan did her classic smart casual look in a blazer and skinny jeans
We haven’t seen the Duchess of Sussex much since she gave birth to little Archie, but she treated herself to some time off mum duties with a few hours at the tennis.
And she rocked her classic take on smart casual in skinny jeans, heels, a tailored blazer and dapper trilby hat.
She’s not pushing any fashion boundaries but she’s comfortable and looks like herself, which is a good lesson for all of us when we’re struggling to know what to wear.
3. Lilly Becker
Lilly Becker looked summery in a beautiful blue floral jumpsuit
Lilly Becker is no stranger to dressing for the tennis.
And she really nailed a lovely summery look last week in this bright blue floral jumpsuit.
There’s a lot to love here; the cropped leg, the plunging neckline, the belted waist, the frilled edging and the alluring open back with its tassel tie.
Accessorised with lace up wedges, this is a look we’ll be copying this season. It’ll work for a Sunday brunch, balmy holiday evenings or even at a festival (without the heels) so it’s a versatile option worth investing in.
4. Tess Daly
Tess Daly opted for pale pink lace and an asymmetric neckline
Television presenter Tess Daly attended last week as well and looked lovely in this pale pink lace dress.
With its asymmetric cut, dipped hem and pretty pleats, it’s the ideal summer occasion look.
Anyone with a wedding to attend should take note now…
And accessorise like Tess too. We like her tonal sunglasses and contrasting bag and heels, which all come together to create a very polished and pulled together ensemble.
5. Phoebe Waller-Bridge
Phoebe Waller-Bridge looked gorgeous for the tennis last week
Phoebe Waller-Bridge looked gorgeous at the tennis last week.
We love everything about this look from her cute side-parted bob to the amazing bright white heels and of course the dress. What a dress.
It’s neckline is demure, as is the length, and the adorable ditsy floral print couldn’t be any sweeter. But there’s a super sexy thigh high split making it a whole different ball game.
So now we have even more reasons to love Ms Waller-bridge than we did before.
6. Geri Horner
Geri Horner looked chic as she watched the tennis last week alongside husband Christian
Geri Horner couldn’t be further from her previous Ginger Spice self and while we miss her Union Jack dresses, bold make-up and very sassy personality, we do like this new iteration.
She’s become very sedate and demure in her style with that put together, perfectly coiffed thing going on.
And last week at the tennis she looked chic in a bright white shirt dress which worked with a contrasting black belt and straw hat.
The voluminous silhouette of this look is to die for, so Geri just had to make it into our best dressed list.
7. Tessa Thompson
We salute you Tessa Thompson for this incredible look
We love a tailored trouser suit on a beautiful woman and Tessa Thompson is proving why.
It’s something about the mix of masculine and feminine that works so well and we’re swooning over this slouchy but sharp white two-piece.
The high waist is ultra cool and the humbug mint striped shirt, with its pyjama collar and open cuffs, is gorgeously louche.
Well played Tessa. Well played.
8. Mollie King
Mollie King making it look easy as she headed to see some tennis over the weekend
The former Saturdays singer Mollie King has always been a bit of a style star and she proved her credentials yet again over the weekend, as she attended the tennis with her beau Stuart Broad.
We love this extremely pretty yet slinky dress, with its form skimming fit and summery yellow floral print.
And Mollie accessorised it perfectly with neutral high heel sandals and a classic black shoulder bag, ensuring she looked polished with a hint of Boho.
9. Adwoa Aboah
There was some serious supermodel style at the tennis this week thanks to Adwoa Aboah
You can always rely on a supermodel to bring it in the style stakes.
And Adwoa Aboah certainly did that this week looking cool as a cucumber in white jeans, sporty top, ballet flats and this amazing tailored coat.
We love that she eschewed the usual court side frock in favour of this more laid back take, and we couldn’t love her hip girl shades more.
But let’s face it, with her face, Adwoa would look incredible in anything.
10. Pippa Matthews
Style runs in the family as Pippa Matthews proves
Like her older sister, Pippa Matthews is a regular court side. And she always looks impeccable.
Attending the second week of the tournament she opted for a tailored dress in the palest of pinks, which she accessorised with a matching hat, nude mule sandals and a straw clutch bag.
The gold brooch detail at the neck of her dress is stunning and we’re fans of the sharply cut short sleeves too.
These sisters have got it nailed.
11. Maisie Williams
Maisie Williams took a fashion risk and it paid off
We’re all for the classic court side look of white, floral, pretty summer dresses.
But we didn’t know we needed a change until we saw Maisie Williams. The actress looked fantastic as she arrived to watch some tennis in a hot pink sleeveless shirt dress and white trainers.
Her matching pink hair and cool girl attitude were a breath of fresh air.
More of the same please.
12. Ruth Wilson
Ruth Wilson went edgy and we love it
Ruth Wilson is another star to have bucked the trend for ultra feminine looks.
Instead she rocked a pair of edgy jeans, complete with rips and frayed ankles, creating a much more casual take on the usual tennis fan style.
Styled with a suede wrap blouse and a pair of high heel sandals to doll the whole outfit up a bit, she’s definitely one of our new favourites from the last two weeks.
13. Lucy Watson
Lucy Watson showed off her pins in a pretty mini dress
Former Made in Chelsea starlet Lucy Watson bucked the trend for midis and maxis at the tennis this summer in favour of a thigh skimming mini.
And what a gorgeous little look it was. We love the long sleeves, romantic floral print and accentuated waist, not to mention her retro 1960s hair and sunglasses.
She may have ventured out of her usual London borough, but she made sure she stood out.
